It’s difficult for anyone to bear a slow computer as it frustrates, especially when you’re doing something important. Those experiencing this should know what I am talking about. Surely your computer was not that slow when you bought it but now you don’t know why it’s slow.
The good thing here is, it’s not impossible to bring your computer back on track. Above all, it’ll cost you nothing.
There are a couple of reasons that make your computer run slowly, some of these reasons are:
1. Spyware and Viruses.
Viruses are harmful to computers. If you frequently download torrents or other illegal stuffs from unknown websites or transfer files from other computers to yours, you are likely to become a victim of spywares and computer viruses. Effective and well updated antivirus will definitely help you solve the problem.
2. Junk items.
If you have been using your computer for quite some time, you will definitely see some unwanted files such as cache files, cookies, and other unnecessary components that clog up your system. Most of the time users don’t even notice the existence of these files.
3. Unwanted applications and pop-ups.
Programs and applications can also cause a computer to slow down. Check your system, and see if you have any program you no longer use or that is not important and uninstall. Disallowing auto pop-ups can also solve the problem.
Fixing Slow PC
Now that you know the reasons why a your computer is not performing as fast as it was, it’s time to learn how to improve the performance, or better, to its original state. Here are a few tips to speed it up:
1. Get viruses out.
Scan your computer against virus with well updated anti-virus to get virus out.
2. Delete unnecessary files.
Once it gets to a month, clear up those temporary folders as you won’t need them in the future. To clear up those files,
- Click the Start button
- Click Control Panel
- Click Network and Internet then click Internet Options
- Click the General tab, and then
- Click Delete under Browsing history
- Click Delete all, click Yes to confirm that you want to delete this information, and then click OK
3. Uninstall unused programs.
If you have programs that you won’t use anymore, simply head to Control Panel, click Programs, and then click Programs and Features. Select a program, and then click Uninstall.
If the tips above can’t solve your problem, you might want to consider formatting your computer but make sure you backup your files before proceeding! Still not working? Then the only 2 options left are either upgrading your RAM or buying a new computer.
If you have any questions or didn't understand something, you can point it out on your comment.
